Did you know?? "AHA"

There are many reasons why we love the auction business. It's fun, fast-paced, exciting, and always something new. We have awesome bidders and buyers (thank you), and incredible sellers and clients (thank you as well). We have amazing team members (we'd be lost without all of you). But one of the greatest things we have is AHA! AHA is exclusive to the auction industry. It stands for "Auctioneers...

Marbles and Auctioneers

People often ask what it takes to become a champion auctioneer. I have to remind them that long before you become a champion, you must first become an auctioneer, and learn the chant.  Right on cue, people will ask "Rich... How do I become an auctioneer and learn the chant?" I'm glad you asked...  You see it's pretty simple. First you practice some basic numbers drills.. "5-10-15-20-25-30-35-...

Salad Dressing makes Sick Kids Better! And you can too!

Well, in a way. Paul Newman's company makes salad dressing (and many other products too). ALL of the profits from these products go to charity. ALL profits.  One of the great charities funded and founded by Paul Newman is the SeriousFun Children's Network, an organization that allows seriously ill children to take a break from their afflictions, and just be kids. They do this by sponsoring summer...

Nope... This ain't Nordstrom's

Nordstrom's will pretty much let you bring back anything you bought, pretty much at any time, and they'll give you a refund. So do.... not us. We're auctioneers, and not a retail store. We're in a different type of business. Most of the time, we...

Farewell to our Friend Dax Gillium

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of a great auctioneer, Mr. Dax Gillium, of Denver. Dax lost his battle with cancer early Friday morning, but he was surrounded by family and left us in peace.  Dax was a Past President of the Colorado Auctioneers Association, and the 2014 Honorary State Champion.  More than that, he was my friend, and my brother. We started our careers...

Auctions Work, especially for charity!

Auctioneers have always been a generous group, giving of themselves and their services to the community. We also work hard to help organizations raise money for good causes, often with tremendous results! Recently, and the famed Barret-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, AZ, the auctioneers sold a rare 1950 Futurliner to raise funds for The Armed Forces Foundation. Not only did the sale bring an...

A little lesson in Minimum Bids

A little lesson in minimum bids....We had a call from a bidder today who was upset because we wouldn't accept a $1 bid on a storage unit. In fact, he insisted that we were required to accept his bid. When he was informed otherwise, he insisted that we were required to post a notice that there is a reserve bid. No, we were not. Here's why:By law, specifically the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), all...
